Colour Junkie
by Rid
* Warning *
Not for epilepsy suferers, as some palette+pattern
combinations make the whole screen strobe.
* Updated! *
This program has now been updated with NTSC & DSS8 sampler
support. There is a built in menu (press M) for choosing
the type of sampler you have.
The Mega Circler/Kalidescope/Spiraler summink.
I didn't know what to really call my amazing program,
until I saw Paul Copsey (disa news reader) writing about
web screen modes, and the words "colour junkie" were in there.
(Which was better than circ.amos)
I've given you a '3 Minute Demo' of my amazing program.
The 'full' version will run continously without stopping,
and has 3 times the amount of patterns and palettes.
Load Workbench first before running the program.
You need a standard 8 bit Sound Sampler plugged into your parallel port
with the sound going into the `Left' side.
And hopefully the spinning graphics will react to whatever music you feed
into it.
Personally I like sticking the Chemical Brothers, Carl Cox or Reactivate 10,
into my internal CD ROM and outputting the picture to my 20 inch TV.
It also works with ambient music like Orbital, The Orb, Biosphere etc.
Controlling:
The controlling buttons/keys are:
Left Mouse - change routine
Right Mouse - change palette
'Q' or 'Esc' - Quit
'+' - faster (use the += key)
'-' - slower (use the _- key)
'N' - switch between PAL & NTSC (It's autosensing, so if the
circles look squashed or stretched, press it.)
'M' - Built in sampler tester/selector.
'Space' - When in the 'Waveform Test' mode, this switches the
display between lines, solid and dots.
The original program was programmed with the TechnoSound Turbo sampler
hardware, with the sound going into the 'Left' port.
I'd imagine that other samplers* should work, please let me know how
successful you are with your sampler.
* It now works with the DSS8 sampler, and others hopefully.
Registration:
If you want a version that will run continously and won't stop until your
power is cut-off, please email me *with your comments on the program*, and
the first 50 to email me get a version with their name in the title.
When 50 people have emailed me, I will then upload the full version to
(the excellent) Aminet.
* I still have special copies left, mail me. *
Include your name, because it will be coded into the program for you,
so each copy I send out has a different name in the front of the program
Contact the author:
I can be contacted through standard email ways: fox@ridhughz.demon.co.uk
Thanks:
Thanks to the makers of Craft and Francois Lionet for AmosPRO.
And to Paul Copsey for the name.

If you want more programs that react to music, contact me.
Have fun :-)
and don't get too spaced out....
